Candidates '05

judydanielsJudy Daniels, Te Tai Tokerau electorate candidate

Judy is a hobby farmer, environmentalist, and community volunteer for local schools, historical society and other groups who ask for help. She is a musician playing bass, guitar and vocals for local groups. Her interest include reading, writing, art, music, horse riding, natural environment.

Judy became interested in the ALCP when she could see the resentment and long term harm caused because ordinary citizens were affected by getting fined and being made criminals for responsibly using a moderately harmless substance. These people had no criminal convictions previously and were basically law abiding.

She further noticed the hard drug dealers and money launderers were white collar workers protected by their anonymity, while the average person got the rap. Young people, especially Maori, were trapped into a spiral of drug offending and crime while trying to pay for stuff they could not afford.

With a regulated market for over 18 year olds
- discriminatory attitudes will eventually disappear;
- we would have a more peaceful and harmonious environment;
- cannabis is separated from hard drugs and criminal circles;
- people are not made to feel bad for breaking man's law.

On the third day God said, "and the earth shall bring forth the herbs, grasses and trees and they shall bear fruit and seeds to multiply and enjoy" [Book of Genesis]
